Lutheran Student Association

We Talk, Discuss, Ask:
Tuesday's LSA Café is a gathering time for students to talk about the week on campus, look at current issues, contemplate the universe, and share a meal and table communion. Bible study, contemporary literature, job plans, and cults are available topics for midweek study, which we call "Digging Deeper".

We Play:
Retreats, picnics, movies, volleyball, frisbee golf are a few of the ways you can relax and meet fellow UMD students!
Check out some of our past events:

  • Ocean City Retreat (Sept. 2002)
  • MALSM Retreat - Baltimore, MD (Nov. 2002)
  • LSA Leadership Retreat - Gettysburg, PA (Jan. 2004)
  • 40th Anniversary of LCM at UMD (November 2005)
  • End of Semester Dinner (December 2005)

  • We Reach Out:
The Lutheran students have focused their outreach by CARing for children. Each week on Friday afternoons students gather to provide on-campus programs for elementary school children at risk. The LSA also assists children in the Langley Park community as part of the En Camino project every Wednesday. In addition to these ongoing service projects, there are numerous other monthly projects providing opportunities for service and growth. Check the calendar for more details.

    Want to get involved?
The LSA meets every Tuesday evening during the school year, and is open to all students. Our usual meetings are located in the lounge on the first floor of the Memorial Chapel. Dinner begins at 5pm, with an activity until 6:30pm, when we begin our table communion. Don't worry if you can't stay for the whole time or have to come late.
