The Channel Tunnel, or Chunnel, is a 50.5 km long rail tunnel beneath the English Channel connecting England and France. Although the bridge was the longest in the world when completed in 1937, the span length has been surpassed by eight other bridges. The Itaipu Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Parana River located on the border between Paraguay and Brazil. was developed to stop the North Sea from flooding as it did in 1953.
Dunes along the entire seashore were raised by as much as 5 meters and
dams were put up to connect islands in the Zeeland province. These dams
have proved effective in preventing history from repeating itself. Click
