guestbook=Brake Problems -- 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan Has anyone else had
any of the following experiences with a newer Dodge ABS-equipped
Grand Caravan? Under normal, dry-road conditions without ABS assist,
it takes an unusually long distance to slow and stop the car.
It takes an inordinate amount of foot pressure to slow or stop the car.
When travelling over 65 MPH, and the brake is applied to modulate speed,
the pedal and whole vehicle starts to vibrate and shudder. This is
especially apparent when coming down mountain passes with a moderate to
heavy load.

The vehicle had all these problems when it was brand new. The dealership's
service manager took a test drive with me and said problem one and two was
a feature of the Chrysler ABS system. I was told to anticipate braking
situations more carefully and avoid situations where a panic stop is
necessary! He also said that problem three was a feature of the newly
redesigned ABS system and that the vibration was the anti-lock system
kicking in, probably because the road was wet or slick in some manner
(this answer after over five days without any precipitation). The
brake system was examined and found to be within factory spec.
I have driven BMW's, Audi's, Honda's and GM vehicles with ABS and have
never experienced similar problems.

Since this is my first Chrysler product, am I crazy, or what?
Your experiences would be much appreciated! I think I am falling victim
to the dreaded Chrysler *Cannot Duplicate Customer Complaint* syndrome!

Thanks,
