My partner and I own a 1996 "White" Dodge Ram and have had problems with the paint for all three years of ownership. Unlike the other complaints on this sight of peeling paint, the white paint on the truck has rust colored dots all over it. Washing the vehicle doesn't help or remove the spots. The first two years that I brought the truck in to the service department at the dealership, the managers both said that it was rail dust and they buffed it out. The buffing helped for a short time. The third time I brought it in (this year), the most recent service manager said that it was from brake filings, and told me that I would have to wash the vehicle every two days to prevent this from occurring. I finally filed a complaint with Chrysler and got an unsatisfactory response. They told me that because my warrantee was expired that there was nothing they or I could do. The service record on this truck should tell the story... This has been a problem from day one! The truck was in the shop multiple times for the rust spots long before the warrantee had expired and nothing was done to permanently correct the problem. To this day I have lived with a $30,000+ vehicle with faulty paint. To make the story even more interesting... In August we bought a "White" 1999 Chrysler 300M. What a beautiful car... Except...Guess what? There are already rust colored spots on it! What can I do?
