Glad to hear someone is interested in my problem and can offer some help.
Letme tell you some more of the details. Last Nov, 1995, while driving , with
no warning at all, the entire braking system failed, leaving me no braking
power at all. Needless to say it was an terrifing moment. Luckily I was not
going fast and the traffic was minimal. I made it home cautiously and called
for a tow truck to take my van to Grand Prix Chrysler in Hicksville NY.They,
in turn looked over the van and informed me that they had to replace the
hydrolic pump and assembly andthe master brake hydrolic unit. I'm not sure if
thats one and the same. Anyway they had the van for three weeks because the
couldn't find the parts.(I didn't mention the cost... about 3000,oo)I got in
touch with a Mr Bivens at the Chrysler customer care center and told him whay
had happened and told him that I was no longer under warranty( van had about
29000 miles). He agreed that they would pay only for the parts leaving me
with about a 500.00 bill. I was much happier with that. However after I
recieved the van back 3 weeks later, I had to return again because the
hydrolic assembly was defective. They had the van for 2 more weeks. They gave
me a 1 year guarantee. This Nov 1995, I started hearing the "BUZZ" again. abd
being self conscience for the past year, waiting for the red warning lights
to appear every day, not knowing when or if they would, I took the van to my
regular service center, Huntington Chrysler in Huntington NY, ,now Dodge, and
had them check the entire brake system. They did not detect anything wrong.I
told them about the buzzing again and they told me it was normal, the sysyem
was just building up pressure. My concern is... sometimes the pump goes on
fora few seconds, sometimes a little longer. What is normal. I also forgot to
mention that before the brakes failed, I also took the van in to check out
the mysterious buzzing sound, which I started noticing because I never had
heard it before. NOw I was timing it and was hearing it every 2-3 minitues
and it would last 30 seconds and longer. Please tel me at what point I should
begin to worry again. What is normal buzzing. I have all my receipts of my
repairs and would also like to see a recall and have the entire brake system
replaced just for the peace of mind. I haven't enjoyed driving my van since
this incident happened. Thans so much for your interest and I hope we could
accomplish some good here.Maybe even a good trade in amount at a reputable
dealer towards a trade in. Thank You John
