I received your website address from a friend, and I must say I'mwondering
if any of your readers have experienced any of the problems we have. We
have a 1996 Grand Caravan LE that just turned 40,000 miles.
1) We just put the THIRD set of brakes on. My wife and two kids arein
this van running around town so we're not abusing the vehicle.
2) We have had the A/C evaporator replace for the SECOND time and hadthe
ventilation system disinfected for the FIFTH time.
3) We are consistantly getting a thunk from the front end that has ledto
either "cannot repeat" diagnosis or replacement of numerous front end
suspension parts.
4) We experience periodic hesitation when acclerating - we were told we
were getting "bad gas" from Shell. We still are experiencing it since
starting to use Amoco.
5) While vacationing in Wisconsin, the tensioning pulley broke, takingout
the serpentine belt and power steering pulley. After getting the repair
done at the local Chrysler dealer and fighting the battle withChrysler's
National Owner's Relations, we find out one month later that theserpentine
belt that was put in was a USED PART! Only the perceptive listening ofmy
wife prevented another incident since the replace belt was alreadystarting
to fray.
6) At this point I went ballistic with National Owner's Relations andgot
them to cover all the repairs - belt, brakes, a/c, sliding door rollers.
(We've replaced those TWICE)
7) Now I find out the situations that your readers have beenexperiencing
and I wonder if it is only Chrysler that avoids and dodges (no pun
intended) customer complaints or do the other domestic automakers aswell?
8) After all our trials and tribulations, I have to replace this vanthat I
can't trust past walking distance. Any suggestions out there?
