spring. - 20:00

(and look, fresh spring colors!)

today was the first day of spring. it was gorgeous. i just wanted to sit out on the campus lawn and nap all day, but I had a class at 1:30. Interestingly enough though, the professor did not show and so at ten minutes past two, the class successfully decided that he wasn't coming and thus exited the classroom without running into the professor on the way out (which is what usually happens in such situations).

This evening I took a long walk around a section of my immediate neighborhood that I hadn't yet seen and found a small, narrow park that I'd heard about. It's nothing too special but it seems ideal for a good late afternoon walk, which I think I really needed.

It was quite superb.

The Israeli dance kids loved the banana bread. I was planning on bringing apples and honey as well, but apparently the honey we have in the house is more expensive then bottles of water and so I opted for just bringing the cake, two apples, and buying about twenty of these ten cent honey candies. They're like butterscotch, only they taste and are filled with real honey. Quite tasty. Honey or no, the cake was a hit.

When I go to dance though, I still very much feel that I'm learning two languages. One is the dancing, the other is just as obviously the language. Both are difficult at times because usually the dances are new and I'm not the best coordinated dancer, and also because I don't usually know what to add to their conversations. It's still fun to listen and try.

Today was definitely a good talking Spanish day though.

Little victories. That's what it's about.

Now I am officially in midterm time. My only midterms are next Thursday, Tuesday the 3rd, and a take home test due in class on the 11. So I have a lot of time on my hands and no plans. I would love to do some traveling but it's hard at the moment to find anyone who's willing to sacrifice two days of studying for going south to Puerto Madryn to see the whales and wonderful Patagonian landscape, north to the trendy city of Rosario, or east a ways to see Colonia and Montevideo in neighboring Uruguay.

They're not without reason, studying is important, hence STUDY abroad.

All in due time.

Did I mention that last Sunday I spent had lunch with my friend Tali in Barrio Chino? This is the second time I've gone to that part of Belgrano and both times I've been happily surprised by how much I've been craving chinese food. They've even got bubble tea. Not like in Maryland or anything with all those flavors and smoothie options, but it's still good.

It was only going to be a nice leisurely lunch, but turned into a nice leisurely afternoon full of walking around the Barrancas (a nice green space I pass every now and again - see "Oh right, it's only Saturday!" for some photos), exloring Avenida Juramento, and finding out that her family in Buenos Aires lives very close to me.

It's been a good day. I wonder what this weekend will be like.

Dale, take care, y nos vemos.

Y l'shanah tova!

Chau, y beso,
