Angelic Layer -
1) A TV Animation and Manga series created by Clamp.
2) A non-violent fighting tournament between two dolls (Angels).
Angel -
A doll that can be controlled with brain-waves to perform various fighting moves. It can have facial expression, back flips, anything you can imagine.
Angel Egg -
An egg-shaped container with a yet-to-be-complete Angel inside. All Angels begin inside the Angel Egg, and indiviual Deus used various tool packages to customize their Angel into their final form.
Angel Fall In! -
An expression that Deus uses when their Angel is thrown into the Layer, and is ready to participate in Angelic Layer fights.
Clamp -
A group of four Japanese all-female manga artist. The group have created a wide variety of manga series. Topics ranges from shoujo Card Captor Sakura to action series like RG Veda.
Deus -
Controller of an Angel. Deus always put on a head-set before using brain waves to give order to his/her Angel.
Ebisu -
The area where Misaki lives in Tokyo. It is located near the Yoyyogi and Shibuya district which is famous for street bands and teenage to young adult entertainment.
Eriol Academy -
The school that Misaki goes to. As far as in Angelic Layer, Eriol Academy has a kindergarten, primary, and middle school section.
Icchan -
The nick name of Mihara Ichiro.
Icchan Nyro yo! -
If Superheroes always have a phrase they will shout when they appear to fight evil, then Icchan has come up with a way to make his presence known...
Kansai -
The region where Icchan, Oujirou, and Misaki are originally from. It generally refer to central western Japan including the cities of Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Wakayama, Nara, and Himeji.
Kansai-Ben -
A dialect of Japanese that are spoken in Kansai. Icchan, Oujirou, and Misaki all speak Kansai-Ben.
Knock Out -
An Angel that have lost all of its hit points/stamina is considered to be Knocked Out. The Knocked Out Angel is declared to be the loser of the fight.
Layer -
A table where Angelic Layer fights will take place. It is usually round. Deus can only control Angels if the Angel is inside the Layer.
Misakichi -
Misaki's nick name. Tamoyo "invented" the nick name in episode 2 in the TV animated Angelic Layer.
Na~! -
Misaki's favorite word. She used it all the time, ranging from time that she is pondering to times that she is scared by sudden appearance of Icchan.
Piffle Princess, The -
A department store that has appeared in numerous Clamp series (X, Card Captor Sakura, and of course Angelic Layer). Misaki buoght her Angel Egg, and other Angelic Layer goods all from the Piffle Princess.
Punishment Game -
Whenever Ogata answers a question (from Icchan) incorrectly, or fail to do a job Icchan told him to do, Icchan will give Ogata a "Punishment Game". Octopus in the pants for 10 minutes, etc.
Ring Out -
An Angel is pronounced to be defeated when it "Rings Out"; or whenenver the Angel is knocked out of the Layer where the Deus cannot control the Angel anymore.
Wakayama -
A city south of Osaka in the Kansai region. Hometown of Misaki.
