  • Infantry Lieutenant, Anti-Armor Platoon, D Co, 2-505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division Served 8 months in Afghanistan and 4 months in Iraq

  • Majored in violin and organ performance at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music before burning out and switching gears

  • Spent three summers (1992 – 1994) touring Europe as concertmaster and soloist with the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra performing Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto #2 in D Minor, Bruch’s Violin Concerto ?? in G Minor, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherezade

  • Spent three months in 1998 living in Moscow attempting to become decent with my Russian

  • Passionate about eating good food, weight-lifting, reading, listening to music and buying copies great works of art

  • Married for 2 years to the beautiful Amanda C. Mennell
